We will make sure your post will be processed…

As negotiations between the CWU and Royal Mail continue and uncertainty regarding the future of our postal services reigns, Royal Mail are keeping us informed of the day to day processing and logistical implications.

Please see below a message from Royal Mail customer services about plans for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday’s forecast strike action.

We, at P&P, benefit from a collection on strike days, however, if for any reason Royal Mail do fail to collect we will ensure that ALL post brought into us before 6.15pm on weekdays will be delivered to the Maidstone sorting office that evening. On Saturday the cut off time for you to get your post to us is midday; we will then be taking all post directly to the sorting office if, for any reason, a collection is not made here at P&P as planned.

Please call us if you require any further information :

FROM ROYAL MAIL:

Royal Mail Customer Services The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has chosen to call further strike action across different parts of Royal Mail’s network on Thursday 29th, Friday 30th and Saturday 31st October.

Talks between Royal Mail and the CWU are continuing, however, whilst further national strikes this week are not inevitable, if national strikes do take place, mail services on strike days will be very limited and, as a consequence, the collection, sorting, distribution and delivery of mail will be delayed.

What does this mean for business collection services?

Our ability to perform business collections in your area on Thursday will be limited and we may not be able to collect from you as usual.

If we are able to collect from you on Thursday, we will make every effort to let you know in advance, however, if resources on the day allow, we will perform extra collections, and the late notice may mean that we cannot always contact you ahead of your collection.

To help you with your mailing plans, here are some alternatives for getting mail into our network on Thursday:

Mail can be dropped off at any Post Office® – You can take your mail to any Post Office branch as they are not involved in this industrial action and services are available as usual. To find your nearest branch, visit:

Post Office® Branch Locator

Mail can be taken to your local Mail Centre – You can hand your mail over at any Mail Centre, check your regional page at: Service Update for details on your nearest office, and the latest time you can bring your mail.

You also have the option to hold your mail until your next collection, which should be on Friday 30th October. Please be advised that, when they resume, collection times may be later than usual because of large volumes of mail to collect as we get collection services back to normal.

If you usually receive a collection from us on a Saturday, you may find that your collection is also affected on Saturday 31st October, as well as Thursday.

We will make every effort to let you know in advance if this is the case, however, the nature of the CWU’s strike action means that it may not be possible to provide absolute confirmation to everyone. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Keeping you up-to-date

Our priority remains to support customers with detailed information and advice to ensure they can get the best service we are able to provide. We will continue to update you with information about contingency plans, the impact of industrial action and the recovery of service after any industrial action.

For more information about mail services this week, including information about delivery of mail, please go to: Service Update where you can also find national and regional information. Alternatively, you can call your usual Royal Mail contact or the Business Service Helpline on 08457 950.
